Relish the different tastes of Wine at The Santa Barbara Wine Festival:

Guess what? California's oldest wine festival, the Santa Barbara Wine Festival, is turning 40 this June & July 2024! And this time, they're shaking things up by hosting it at a totally new spot. With the region's wine gaining more popularity and recognition than ever, this year's fest promises to be epic, maybe even the best one yet! It's like a comeback party after the pandemic put a damper on things for a bit.

Over fifty awesome wineries showing off their finest wines, paired with bites from Santa Barbara County's top chefs. But wait, there's more! It's not just a tasting event; it's a full-on party! There's a lounge serving up sparkling wine and live tunes from Generic Clapton (formerly known as The Coals). Plus, if you're a local with proof of your Santa Barbara County address, you get a sweet $20 off admission.

And get this: they've ditched last year's kinda dull setup behind Mission Santa Inés. Now, the festival's happening at Vega Vineyard & Farm, a beautiful spot bursting with history and fun. It's got everything from a mini-zoo to a growing hospitality scene. And the best part? It's just outside Buellton along Highway 101. So, mark your calendars and get ready for a day of sipping, munching, and enjoying the good life!

In the wine world, the Santa Barbara Vintners Festival is like hitting the jackpot for both seasoned wine buffs and newbies alike. With heaps of wineries all in one spot, it's a golden opportunity to discover new brands or bottles you never knew existed. Jeff Chaney from Grimm’s Bluff, situated above the Santa Ynez River, sums it up perfectly: "For us smaller, newer wineries, it's a chance to connect with loads of folks who love Santa Barbara County wines. We get to share our story, our farming philosophy (which is all about being organic and biodynamic), and, best of all, introduce our wines to fresh faces."

This year, Grimm’s Bluff might blow minds with their first-ever release of cabernet franc — just two barrels, mind you! Or maybe it's their rare rosé of cabernet sauvignon, made from estate vines grown in an ancient Roman style. Chaney puts it simply: "Think of it like a blend of Provence, France vibes with a twist of Happy Canyon cabernet sauvignon. It's gonna make you rethink everything you thought you knew about this grape and wine style."

Even after being in the game for fifty years, the Miller family, who owns Solomon Hills and Bien Nacido, still gets hyped for this fest. Nicholas Miller spills the beans: "What makes the Santa Barbara Vintners Festival so rad is that the folks pouring are the ones who actually own and make the wine. You get to rub shoulders with the people behind the magic and, for a day, feel like part of this awesome Santa Barbara vintner community."
